The town had its beginnings in 1688 when King Charles II of England granted 5 million acres to Thomas Culpeper and part of the land became Herndon. In the 19th century, a mill was built along a stream near the intersection of what is now Elden and Locust Streets. The railroad depot was built in 1857 and it launched Herndon into further development. Today, Herndon is a vibrant community that has a variety of commercial and residential areas.
Hiddenbrook is a community consisting of 393 traditional and contemporary style homes. There is access to a clubhouse, swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Residents appreciate the tall trees and wide sidewalks, perfect for those with families and pets to spend quality time outdoors. There is nearby shopping in Old Town Herndon, Elden Street and Sterling Town Center.
The Kingstream community in Herndon has more than 300 single family homes with access to paved walking trails, two tot lots, two tennis courts, a pool, and a basketball court. Herndon High School is right next to the community, and Herndon Elementary is just down the road.
Established in 1980, the Franklin Farm Foundation has 1,777 homes. The community also includes 13 miles of walking trails, 6 fishing ponds, 6 tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, 14 tot lots, 3 multipurpose courts, and 180 acres of open space. While the neighborhood encompasses a lot, residents love the tight-knit community spirit.

“I cannot recommend this company enough. I’ve moved multiple times and it always ended up being a chore. Working with the American Moving & Storage team was an absolute dream. From the initial request for quote to the final walk through, this was the smoothest and easiest move I’ve ever had.
The team was incredible and paid close attention to exactly where items would be placed in my new home while packing. Everything was meticulously packed and not a single item had even a scratch on it. The communication was amazing from day 1 and continued on move day with the team. Hopefully I’m done moving for awhile, but I won’t hesitate to call this team again should the need arise.”

“I can’t emphasis how great American Moving & Storage was. We moved our house into storage, and they met every single one of our requests as to how we wanted it stored. They showed up on time, and got to work. We had 5 movers and every single one of them was pleasant and professional, from the experienced to the new, even at the end of the long day. The team was nothing short of fantastic and accommodating when our situation and expectations kept changing, and was always easy to reach, and went above and beyond. They were very responsive when I was worried we were missing an item (we were not!). Really, a fantastic group, not at all costly, and still competitive with other big-big groups on every level.”

“I cannot say enough good things about this company. They are super responsive to emails, texts, and calls—within minutes of initially reaching out to them for a quote, I was contacted by a member of the staff. The quote they gave me ended up being what the final total was, so they don’t jerk you around. The movers arrived when they said they would and worked quickly yet carefully. The movers were also very courteous and professional. I hate moving and this experience completely put me at ease. I would absolutely recommend American Moving & Storage to my family, friends, and colleagues.”
